Later this summer, another volume in Darrell Collins's Civil War army reference series is scheduled to be released from McFarland. The books trace over time the composition, strength, and casualties of the principal eastern and western theater armies of both sides. There's no other single publisher who offers such a range of classic expedition narratives, and it would seem unfair to single out any one of these many volumes.
